Overview

This five-day safari at Thambo Tree Camp allows you to observe several animal species, including the “big five,” on foot. This safari takes you away from the throng of Kruger National Park while yet allowing you to appreciate the animals. These 60,000 hectares of nature are ideal for a safari away from the crowd. The reserve, created in 1972 as part of the larger Kruger National Park, is one of South Africa’s largest privately held reserves.

Day 1 :

Johannesburg

When you arrive at OR Tambo Airport, you will be met by an Aero Guest House staff member who will take you to your accommodation. There are no planned activities for today; however, please contact us if you would like to take a day trip of Johannesburg.

Main destination: Johannesburg (city).
Accommodation: Aero Guest Lodge

Day 2 :

Johannesburg to Klaserie Game Reserve

Aero Guest House will drop you off at OR Tambo Airport's bus terminal to catch the 07:45am shuttle to the Greater Kruger National Park. The shuttle will drop you off at Hoedspruit, where a guide from Thambo Tree Camp will meet you and transport you the rest of the way to camp. After settling in and unpacking your belongings, you may embark on your first afternoon shared game drive to search for wildlife.

Main location: Klaserie Private Nature Reserve (Greater Kruger).
Accommodation: Thambo Tree Camp.

Day 3 :

Day (three-four) Game drives in Klaserie Game Reserve

Wake up before dawn for the morning game drive, which begins at daybreak. Enjoy a hot coffee and an early-morning snack before boarding the safari vehicle and leaving the property in search of wildlife. Spend three hours wandering around the jungle, looking for animals, before retreating to the shade of a tree in the heat of the day.

After returning to the lodge for a delicious cooked breakfast, you will have some free time to rest and unwind in the tranquil African environment. Relax by the pool, read a riveting book, take a wonderful siesta, or simply enjoy the views, sounds, and fragrances of nature. Bush walks are available for guests.

Afternoon tea is given before your next game drive, which departs between 3:30 and 4:30 PM, depending on the time of year. Enjoy a sunset stop in the wilderness. Dinner is served before you retire for the night to the sounds of the wild.

Day 4 :

Day (three-four) Game drives in Klaserie Game Reserve

Day 5 :

Klaserie to Johannesburg

You will be driven to Hoedspruit to take the shuttle return to OR Tambo Airport following your final breakfast in the bush and your final shared morning activity if time permits. thereafter, you will return to Johannesburg at around 16:30.
