First stop: the magnificent Carlton Centre tour in Johannesburg.
The Apartheid Museum is the next location. This unique museum shows South Africa throughout the tumultuous years of the apartheid period.
By the time we get to the Apartheid Museum, it is midday. The Truth Café offers food and beverages for purchase (own expense). Around 1400, we depart the museum and head to Soweto, passing by well-known sites like the enormous Soweto Towers, the FNB Soccer Stadium, and Baragwanath Hospital.
The afternoon trip takes in Soweto's major heritage landmarks, which honor the city's efforts during the apartheid era, as well as its well-known streets and marketplaces, which highlight the dynamic, multicultural culture of the area.
