We will depart early enough in order to beat rush hour, and we make a coffee stop at a layby. It takes roughly one and a half hours to complete the trip. When we get to the famed artist's home, we are met by a multilingual local guide who handles any issues that may come up. From there, we go to several locations in Mabhoko where mural art is shown and the locals may be observed. This will involve passing the home of Dr. Esther Mahlangu, the most well-known Ndebele artist, and visiting the Catholic church, which was painted by the well-known Francina Ndimande, who tragically died of diabetes in 2013. We travel to a nearby village where a different kind of art is on exhibit after lunch. Some of the residences sell beaded items and other artwork created by the Ndebele, which supports their artistic output. As an alternative, one can go to a tourist town that showcases how Ndebele art and dwelling styles have evolved over a far longer period of time.
The primary location is Mabhoko, a cultural village.
