    Overview

    6 days Rwanda primates and Wildlife safari, will combine the great Rwanda safari highlight of gorilla trekking with the glimpse in to the vibrant Rwanda culture where you will get to learn more about Rwanda people. The tour will take you to Akagera National Park for wildlife safaris where you will encounter several mammal species. For the gorillas, you will explore the rich and vibrant forest of volcanoes National Park where you will have an encounter with Gentle giants in their Natural habitat. The last days you will explore Nyungwe forest for chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk.

    • Day 1: Arrival in Kigali, city tour to see of the interesting sites in Rwanda and thereafter, transfer to Akagera National Park

    Itinerary

    Our company driver guide will pick you up from Kigali airport on arrival or at the hotel after the morning breakfast for the start of the safari. The guide will brief you about the safari as you start your journey. Depending on your time of arrival, you may have city tour to visit some of the iconic sites in Rwanda, including the Rwanda genocide memorial, the Museum, Inema art center, the local markets among others. You will have lunch and thereafter, drive to Akagera National Park. on arrival, you proceed and check in to the lodge and spend the rest of the evening at Leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

    Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner

    Wake up early and have breakfast and after, go on morning game drive to catch with the early raisers and predators coming out to hunt. Early mornings, the animals are most active thus offers you a great opportunity to spot several mammal species. Including; elephants, buffalos, giraffe, zebras, leopards, hyenas, lions. The park is also home to several antelopes like bushbucks, Topis, Oribis, water-buck, roan antelope and duiker, klipspringer, impala and world largest antelope – the Cape eland among others. Return to the lodge for brief rest and lunch and in the afternoon, you will go on boat cruise on lake Ihema for another epic encounter with several mammal species including, the Buffalos, Hippos and wide array of bird species as well as other mammal species seen on the shores of the lake. After, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

    Wake up for morning breakfast and thereafter, you go on morning game drive to polish out on previous game drive. After, you will exit the park and transfer to volcanoes National Park, home to the mountain gorillas. You will have lunch enroute and continue to the park arriving in the afternoon. You will proceed and check in to the lodge where you will spend the rest of the evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

    Meal plan: Breakfast, lunch Dinner

    Wake up early and have your breakfast thereafter, head out to the park headquarters where you will attend briefing by the park rangers on the does and the don’ts of gorilla trekking. After, you will be assigned arranger guide and put in groups of 8 members and allocated gorilla family you will be tracking. You will tend proceed to the start point of the trek. The trek alone may last of about 1-6 hours searching for the Gorillas and once you have found them, you will be allowed one hour with them as you watch them play, feed, and interact with one another among other daily activities.
    After, return to the park headquarters then to the lodge for rest. Later in the evening, you will go on Iby’iwacu cultural tour where you will meet and interact with the locals and get more insight about Rwanda Culture. You will also enjoy traditional dances, art and craft among others. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

    You will have morning breakfast and thereafter, check out and transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park, lunch will be enroute as you continue to the lodge arriving in the afternoon. Upon arrival, check in to the lodge where you will spend the rest of the evening at leisure alternatively, you can go on canopy walk a suspended bridge that offers breathtaking views of the forest canopy. The Canopy Walkway is 70 meters above the forest floor and extends over a distance of 160 meters. This unique perspective of the forest allows you to observe various bird species, butterflies, and monkeys. The Canopy Walk is not only exhilarating but also educational, as your guide will provide insights into the biodiversity of the forest and its importance to the ecosystem. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

    Wake up early for breakfast and thereafter, head out to the park headquarters for briefing by the park rangers about the rules and the regulations for chimpanzee trekking. You will then be assigned Chimpanzee group you will be tracking accompanied by the rangers to start the trek. The trek may last for about 1-4 hours depending on the location of the chimpanzees, once you have found the, you will be allowed one hour with them as you watch them play, feed and interact with one another among other daily activities. After, you will exit the forest and start your return journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will have lunch and thereafter, the guide will drop you off at the Kigali airport in time for your departure flight back home.
