4-Day Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Big 5 & St Lucia Wetland

We will pick you up at your specified location, such as Durban International Airport, a business in Durban, or anywhere else in the province. We will leave in the morning and go to the IMFolonzi Game Reserve. Your guide will take you on a guided tour of the gorgeous location, explaining the history and other fascinating information about it. When you arrive at the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve, you will begin your safari by hunting for wildlife on your route to camp.

After you settle into your hotel, you will go on a sunset game drive. Enjoy the views and sounds of the African wilderness, with a break by the Umfolozi River for sundowners and refreshments before returning to camp. Freshen yourself before joining your guide around the campfire to make a braai (BBQ) meal. Hopefully, some nocturnal creatures will pay us a visit, since hyenas and bushbabies are regulars.

You get up early to go on another game drive after a nice cup of coffee or tea. Early game drives, when the light is just peeking over the savanna, are great for catching nighttime predators that are still roaming about. We will have a tea/coffee and food break in the middle of the road to soothe those churning stomachs. The drive then continues as the sun heats the bushveld and animals such as zebras, giraffes, elephants, and other antelopes begin to move.

We will go back to camp for breakfast, which your guide will prepare for you. Sit and enjoy the sights, or perhaps take a little break. Then, once again, have an afternoon game drive, hoping to add to your ever-growing game-watching list.

Enjoy another stunning sunset before continuing with campfire storytelling and a traditional South African supper. Look up at the stars; the absence of artificial light allows for wonderful stargazing, and your guide will assist you in identifying the different constellations.

Wake up early to the aroma of fresh coffee and go out on your last game drive. Your guide will be on a mission to discover what remains to see. Return to the camp for breakfast before collecting your belongings and checking out. Spend the last hour or two in the reserve before heading to the departure gate, where you will leave about lunchtime.

We will travel to the St. Lucia Wetland and Estuary, which is home to Africa's greatest population of hippos and Nile crocodiles. When traveling between the two reserves, you may like to participate in one of the optional extras. Either a visit to Bayete Zulu Game Reserve for an elephant experience or a visit to a cheetah rehabilitation facility.

Enjoy an afternoon game drive via the Simangaliso Wetland Reserve. After returning to the resort, clean up and explore the charming town of St. Lucia.

After supper, there is an opportunity for a night drive around the reserve.

Following a leisurely breakfast, we check out and take a 2-hour boat tour along the St. Lucia river and into the iSimangaliso reserve. Expect to witness hippos, crocodiles, a variety of bird species, antelopes, and other wildlife.

After that, we will depart St. Lucia and return to Durban, where your guide will drop you off at your specified location.
