Overview

During this 4-day journey, you will visit Kruger National Park and a private game reserve in Hoedspruit. It covers transports from and back to Johannesburg, park fees, eight game drives, some of which are at night, three dinners, three breakfasts, and one lunch. You will spend one night at Sabie River Bush Lodge on the Kruger border, one night at Skukuza in southern Kruger, and one night at the upscale Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge or a Lodge in Karongwe Game Reserve.

Day 1 :

Johannesburg - Transfer to Kruger Park - Afternoon Game Drive

Our expert Kruger Park driver/guide will pick you up and transport you in an air-conditioned microbus from Johannesburg. Travel east through the highveld farmlands and down the valley to Nelspruit, the capital of Mpumalanga province. After lunch, prepare your cameras and enter southern Kruger Park for the first exhilarating game drive. You will be going through moderately forested wilderness, where you may glimpse antelope, giraffe, and even elephant. Before dusk, travel a short distance to Sabie River Bush Lodge for our overnight stay. Book lodge accommodation or an en suite safari tent with air conditioning and contemporary furniture. It is time to swim, then rest on the deck, gazing out over the vast Sabie River, hoping to see some hippos or crocodiles. You may get a drink before dinner at the Gecko Lapa Restaurant, which has a three-course menu.

Day 2 :

Full Day in Kruger Park - 3 Safari Drives

Day 3 :

Morning Drive to Central Kruger Then Exit to a Private Game Reserve - 3 Safari Drives

Depart for another fantastic early morning wildlife drive in central Kruger Park's wide plains. Here, you may expect to witness zebra, wildebeest, and even large cats. Satara offers a delicious breakfast on the balcony before visiting the curio store. Continue on the mid-morning journey across Nsemani Dam and the Timbarvati River to the Orpen departure gate. Travel to Mohlabetsi Safari Lodge and settle into an en-suite hut with air conditioning. Explore the lodge, have a swim, and then eat lunch in the grounds. Later, board an open safari vehicle for an evening wildlife drive, stopping along the way for "sundowners." Return to the lodge for supper, generally served in the bungalow with a bonfire, which is a highlight of the safari experience. Spend the night listening for jackals and other nocturnal creatures.

Day 4 :

Sunrise Safari Drive - Transfer Back to Johannesburg

Enjoy coffee and rusks on the verandah, then you will be accompanied by the ranger for a morning game drive and your final opportunity to see the Big Five. It is also a great time to listen for bird cries as the jungle comes alive. Visit a waterhole to see rhinos and crocodiles. Return to the resort and refresh up before a fantastic breakfast, followed by last shots in the African wilderness. Depart for your return trip via Dullstroom's farmlands and trout fishing regions. Arrive back in Johannesburg at OR Tambo Airport or surrounding hotels around 4.30 p.m. Please allow 1.5 hours connecting time for domestic flights and 3 hours for foreign flights.
