Overview

This 4-day vacation includes Rhino Post Safari Lodge and Plains Camp in Kruger National Park game drives, guided walking safaris, and an optional sleepout in a Big 5 region. 20 kilometers from Skukuza Airport, the 12,000-hectare concession provides great wildlife watching. Under Tamboti trees, along the parched Mutlumuvi River, lies Rhino Post Safari Lodge. Within an Acacia Knobthorn thicket, four opulent tents make up Plains Camp, located in the concession’s middle. On upper decks, guests can choose to sleep beneath the stars.

Day 1 :

Johannesburg to Kruger National Park

Your transfer to Rhino Post Safari Lodge will begin with a pickup from OR Tambo. Before you check into your room, you will be offered a chilled, home-brewed iced tea or beverage. At 15:30, you are served high tea in the lounge overlooking the waterhole before departing for the afternoon in specially equipped open 4x4 vehicles. You will stop for sundowner drinks and nibbles at twilight before continuing on to the resort in time for pre-supper drinks and a dinner on the terrace or in the dining room.

Day 2 :

Morning & Evening Game Drives

After an early wake-up, you will have time for tea or coffee and a snack before heading out on a game drive. Midway during your gaming drive, you will also have a tea or coffee break. When you return to the lodge, you may eat brunch between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. A 30-minute journey that includes a mini-game drive will take you to Plains Camp by 4x4 at 14:00. After settling in, high tea is provided, followed by a briefing on the "do's and don'ts" of bushwalking, after which you go to a location where you will embark on a quick introduction walk. Two armed guides lead each trek. Before arriving at camp, you will return to your car for sunscreen and a short night drive.

Day 3 :

Morning Game Drive & Depart to Plains Camp

After an early wake-up, you will have time for tea or coffee and a snack before heading out on a game drive. Midway during your gaming drive, you will also have a tea or coffee break. When you return to the lodge, you may eat brunch between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. A 30-minute journey that includes a mini-game drive will take you to Plains Camp by 4x4 at 14:00. Day 4 :

Morning Bush Walk

Take a three- to four-hour walk in the morning, pausing for a brief snack. We return from our morning walk and have lunch. You may have a dip in the plunge pool or just lounge on the patio until high tea, following which there is a quick twilight game drive and an afternoon stroll. Dinner and drinks by the fire finish off the day.

Day 5 :

Final Bush Walk & Departure

You will have one more bush walk before breakfast is served, followed by a snack and tea or coffee. Afterward, you will be driven to Rhino Post Safari Lodge for check-out and departure.
Depending on availability and the day of arrival, the sequence of accommodations may change. Reservations are required for the optional sleepout from Plains Camp.
