Overview
The Great Rift Valley is an incredible stretch of interconnected geographic depressions, spanning about 7,000km, that extends from Lebanon in Asia all the way to Mozambique in southeast Africa. Although the name persists in certain contexts, it is seldom employed in geology due to its vague combination of distinct yet interconnected rift and fault systems. This valley stretches an impressive 5,950km northward, weaving through the vibrant eastern region of Africa. Several deep, elongated lakes, known as ribbon lakes, can be found on the floor of this Rift Valley.
